This week had its ups and downs. I didn't get to log as many minutes as I would have liked, and the cold that has been lingering came back with a vengeance. But, I had an awesome run on Sunday. I felt so good, once I hit the 30 min mark, I kept running until the mileage was 3miles, then I kept running until it said 3.25 so I could honestly say I ran for 3 miles straight (I walk for the first .25 miles). I ended up doing 3.5 miles total! Then did weights!! I felt so good when I was done. Then woke up Monday morning feeling like shit!
Despite the crappy week, I still managed to lose. I am really hoping that I can kick this cold so that I can get back on track!
Challenge #1 track fitness minutes: 237 minutes
Challenge #2 track sleep: most nights I got 7 hours of sleep. However I routinely have a 3 year old who climbs in my bed at night, so I really don't think my 7 hours are quality hours.
Starting weight 188.0
Last week 186.8
This week 186.0
total loss 2.0
I am determined to get myself in-shape by the time I turn 40. Hopefully, by blogging about it, it will actually happen.

Shrinkvivor Weigh-In
The first week of Shrinkvivor went pretty well. We were challenged this week with logging all minutes of exercise and to not eat fast food.
I always feel like I let people down when I have to log my minutes. As a working mom with three kids in activities I have to squeeze in my exercise when I can. I would love to be able to do more, but I'm not sure I could.
Staying away from fast food is not an issue for me, typically. We did eat out on Friday and ordered carry out on Saturday. Not sure if that counts as fast food. Friday's meal, I had a salad and used my dressing (on the side) sparingly, so I felt pretty good about my choices. Saturday we got Chinese carry-out. Not such a good choice, but I watched my portion sizes. My husband and I joke that a night of Chinese puts pounds on us overnight. This weekend was no different. I woke up on Sunday morning 2lbs heavier than I had been on Sat morning. Have spent the days since then drinking tons of water and trying hard to compensate for it.
I worked out everyday but Friday this week and feel good about my 324 minutes (5 hours 24 minutes), but wishing it could be more. I'm working really hard at getting back to running 30 min straight/ 3miles. Hoping it won't take too long to get back there!
My weigh in wasn't too bad, considering the Chinese food, but had hoped it would be more.

May Your Way Weigh-in #1
I started the May Your Way challenge with the Sisterhood of the shrinking jeans on Sunday, May 1. Today is the first weigh-in and I was excited to step on the scale! Even though it had only been a few day, I was feeling good. I've been logging in my food intake and kept active, I knew there would already be a loss!
My goals for this challenge are going well. It is a busy time of year, but I am determined to get the exercise in! My husband was scheduled to be on evenings this week, so I felt I would have the time to go to the gym after work before having to be home to let the dog out. Monday, I screwed up and didn't take my clothes to work, by the time I got home, we got involved in things and I felt that I couldn't abandon my hubby with all the kids after staying home all day with the 3 year old (we have daycare issues this week). Tuesday, I spent all morning proctoring an AP Computer Science exam. Proctors are not allowed to do anything but watch the kids take the exam; it is soooo boring. So, I wore comfortable clothes, my sneakers, downloaded a pedometer app, and just paced around the room for most of the test. I managed to walk over 6000 steps just during testing! I was able to squeeze in some time in the gym after work as well. My body did not enjoy running after weeks of vacation. It has been screaming at me all day today!
I am sore today, and the schedule does not allow me time at the gym. However, I walked during my AP proctoring again today, despite my feet being angry! Hoping to get to the gym tomorrow after work! Once I get back into my routine, things will be much better!

The Power of One Week 5 Weigh in
Not a great week. Snow and ice hit last week and I ended up with 3 days of no school due to snow and ice and no power in a ton of the schools. Three days home with my kids resulted in lots of snacking and no exercising (except for shoveling snow).
My parents had no power for a few days and we had them over. Instead of cooking, we ordered Chinese food. Haven't had it in a while, and it was so good! I didn't feel like I ate a lot of it but it kicked me in the butt and I put on close to 5lbs in just a few days. I really feel like the Chinese (and that special time of the month) led me to retain a TON of water. My socks dug into my legs and left indentation marks like when I was pregnant. I've been slugging water ever since, but couldn't fix it completely by today. For the first time, this challenge, I had a gain. So frustrating, but whatevs, it happens :)

The Power of One Weigh-In #4
Weigh-In day today arrived with SNOW!!! I woke up this morning and happened to peek out the window before jumping in the shower to get ready for work and saw the ground covered in the white fluffy stuff. We were expecting some rain/snow last night and then a big storm Wed night, but they never led us to believe that last night's snow would be anything worth worrying about. The temperature was high and it wasn't supposed to be an issue. Thank goodness I thought to look out, just in case. School was cancelled today! We probably could have gone with a delay, but then they may have called for an early dismissal, so who knows.
Spent the day organizing my closet and waiting for a couch to be delivered and carpet to be installed. It was a pretty productive day, all in all!!
I didn't get to work-out much this week either, but had an awesome run yesterday at the gym. My husband recommended that I slow my pace a bit and I could probably run farther. I decided to take his advice...and it worked!!! I dropped to 5.0 from my usual 5.4-5.5 on the treadmill and I was able to run for 30 minutes straight...an new personal record! With my 5 min warm-up and cool down, I ran (walking for warm-up and cool down) 3.2 miles in 40 min!!! I was on cloud 9! I'm a little sore today, but so thrilled I did it!!!
My weigh-in wasn't great-no loss at all this week.

The Power of One Challenge Weigh-in #1
Once again I am participating in a Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans weight loss challenge. This one is called The Power of One. The challenge actually started last week with our starting weight weigh-in, but I didn't do a blog post about it because we were out of town at my in-laws. I did weigh in though and got my starting weight, which wasn't actually that bad considering how many holiday goodies I had consumed!
There wasn't a whole lot of change with this weigh-in since I was really still in holiday mode until Jan 3 when I returned to work. but I am raring to go for the remainder of this challenge. with 2011 already started, it made me realize that my goal of being "Fit by Forty" is more important than ever. On November 10, 2011, I will turn 40 years old. I am more determined than ever to reach this milestone as a healthier, trimmer, fitter me!!
My New Year's Resolutions (with regard to fitness and weight loss) are as follows:
Workout AT LEAST 3 times a week
Run in a 5K this spring with my husband
Lose 20 (or more) pounds

Holiday Hoedown Weigh-in Wednesday
This week, I felt like I rocked my workouts. the weight loss didn't show it, but I really felt great after all of my runs. The C25K pushed me to do a 20 min run on Friday. I was terrified of it, but I did it without stopping or lowering my mph on the treadmill. I felt AWESOME!!! Thursday night I did my first exercise class at the gym-a 60 min Zumba class. I felt like an idiot, completely screwing up half of the routines, but it was SO MUCH FUN! I will definitely do it again.
So, there was no change from last week, which totally sucks, but at least I didn't gain anything!

Weigh-In Wednesday
Well, it's another wednesday and another weigh-in. Not too bad, but could have been better. I've been doing the Couch to 5K program (though I seem to be a week behind the other sisters who are training for a virtual 5K in January) and it was a big week for me. I was able to do all the runs without dropping my speed down and felt GREAT! There hasn't been a great weight loss(I'm still not back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight), but I feel great and my clothes are fitting better and people are noticing change... it feels so good!

Wednesday weigh-in
Here we go, another week with Shrinkvivor Challenge. We were charged with the following:
Water
No fast food
5 fruits & Vegetables
count calories
Log your miles
Water was a challenge, I did it most days, but not all
No fast food, except for the kids, they ate pizza (delivery) while I had a salad.
Ate lots of salad, carrots and bananas this week. On average I hit my 5 servings.
Miles 13.18 miles (combination of walking/running with the C25K and the elliptical machine)
Last week: 182.4
This week: 183.2
Loss this week: + .8
Total loss: 4.0lbs
IT is so frustrating, because I was tracking my calories, and doing great on everything. I didn't get a ton of miles in, but I had some great workouts. However I am fighting off a cold and I think that has affected things greatly. I am sure I'll be booted off to Exile Island this week for sure.
